Loan Repayments
What a loan costs per week, fortnight or month, and the total interest over its life.
Calculator assumptions
- Interest is compounded at the repayment frequency; lenders generally accrue daily and debit monthly, so a lender schedule may differ slightly.
- The rate is assumed constant for the whole term.
- Fees, charges, offset accounts and redraw are not included.
- Principal and interest: the loan is fully repaid over the term.
Important information
These calculations are estimates only and are based on the information you enter and the assumptions shown. They are not a quote, offer of credit or credit advice. Actual figures and eligibility will depend on lender policy and a formal assessment of your circumstances.

Beyond the online estimate
Borrowing Capacity
A borrowing capacity tab without a calculator? That's not a mistake. Online calculators can produce a number in seconds, but that number can be misleading because lenders don't all assess your circumstances in the same way.
Why the answer can vary so much
Your borrowing capacity can differ by hundreds of thousands of dollars between lenders. Each applies different policies to income, expenses, debts and commitments, so the same information can produce a very different result.
The broker difference
A clearer, lender-aware borrowing range
The Loan Rover team matches your circumstances - including overtime, bonuses, allowances and self-employed income - with relevant lender policies. That is what being pre-qualified means: a clearer borrowing range before you make major decisions.
What can change the answer?
commissions and casual income.
periods a lender will accept.
household spending is assessed.
plus ongoing financial commitments.
Pre-qualification provides indicative guidance only. It is not a pre-approval, an offer of credit or a promise to lend. Any application remains subject to verification, lender policy and formal assessment.
Extra Repayments
See how paying more can cut your loan term and reduce your total interest paid.
Calculator assumptions
- The extra amount is paid every repayment, starting immediately, for the life of the loan.
- The interest rate is assumed constant.
- Fixed-rate loans often cap extra repayments - check your loan contract.
- Fees and charges are not included.
Important information
These calculations are estimates only and are based on the information you enter and the assumptions shown. They are not a quote, offer of credit or credit advice. Actual figures and eligibility will depend on lender policy and a formal assessment of your circumstances.

Loan Comparison
Compare the repayments and total cost of two loans side by side, including upfront and monthly fees.
Loan A
Loan B
Total cost comparison over time
Calculator assumptions
- Both loans are modelled as principal-and-interest loans with monthly repayments.
- Interest rates and fees are assumed to remain unchanged for the full loan term.
- Total cost includes principal, interest, upfront fees and the monthly fee entered.
- Other charges, offset benefits, redraw and package discounts are not included.

Stamp Duty
Transfer duty by state and territory, including first-home-buyer concessions where they apply.
No first-home concession applies to these inputs.

Calculator assumptions
- Includes the standard transfer registration fee and registration of one new mortgage for a single-title purchase.
- Private e-conveyancing, title-search, bank, legal and conveyancing fees are not included.
- First-home concessions depend on eligibility criteria this calculator does not check, including residency requirements and whether you have owned property before.
- Foreign-purchaser surcharges and investor differences are not applied.
- Rates change; figures reflect the schedule stored at the time of your visit.

Funding the purchase
Calculator assumptions
All amounts are entered manually. Buying costs are treated as one-off expenses and added to the property purchase price. The requested loan is deducted from that total to estimate the funds required to complete the purchase. If the requested loan exceeds the combined purchase price and costs, the funds required figure is shown as $0. Ongoing loan repayments, grants, rebates and other funding sources are not included. Government and lender charges should be confirmed before purchase.
Important information
These calculations are estimates only and are based on the information you enter and the assumptions shown. They are not a quote, offer of credit or credit advice. Actual figures and eligibility will depend on lender policy and a formal assessment of your circumstances. Please ask your lender, broker, conveyancer or solicitor and the relevant government authority to confirm the final costs for your transaction.
Budget Planner
See what may be left after expenses and repayments to build a home deposit or pay down your loans sooner.
Take-home income
Use the amount received after tax, HECS/HELP and other payroll deductions.
Living expenses
Include regular household and personal spending.
Liability repayments
Enter repayments, not the outstanding account balance.
Monthly budget summary
Calculator assumptions
Amounts within each section are assumed to use the frequency selected for that section and are converted to a monthly equivalent. Net income means money actually received after tax, HECS/HELP and other payroll deductions. The result assumes all entered income is available to meet the entered living expenses and liability repayments. Irregular expenses, future changes and unentered commitments are not included.
Important information
This calculator provides a general estimate based only on the figures entered. It is not financial advice or an assessment of borrowing capacity. Lenders may assess income, expenses and liabilities differently and may apply minimum expense benchmarks. The amount actually remaining will depend on your circumstances and spending.
